Repte and I grabbed a few of the shirts and some matching pants. They were dusty, but at least they seemed to be in better condition than some of the clothes we were wearing. Besides, the odd colors seemed to make it easier to blend with the bushes and trees closer to town.

The biggest shirt that I could find would fit across the chest, but was too small in the arms and shoulders, so I tore them off. It looked kinda funny, but it worked for the most part. We scooped up a few more for everyone else, and turned to leave when I spotted something else that caught my eye. Closer to the entrance, I somehow missed some boxes that had some type of fluffy green sacks, and some boxes that said rations on the side.

Stuffing a bunch of the clothes a few of the sacks into one of the sacks, I slung it over my shoulder, and grabbed a couple of the boxes, and Repte grabbed a couple more.

With stash in hand we headed back to the where everyone else was at. We both wanted to explore some more, but without light it was not going to be easier, and besides, Repte was going to need a chance to get some more sleep for his turn at watch, but we both agreed that we’d come back again after my turn at watch.

When we arrived, Arkon and Nikola were arguing. Nikola seemed relieved to see us, and Arkon seemed undecided about something. Nikola told me that she and Arkon were arguing about going back to the houses to see if they could find something to eat.

Looking at Arkon I said, we’ll need to go out later, but not right now. What we need is to find something to light up the tunnels that we found. As for something to eat… we found these boxes that said rations. Everything is covered in dust, so I don’t know if they’re any good or not, but I didn’t smell anything rotten at least.

Arkon pounced on the box and started ripping into it. Guess he was hungrier than I thought. The first box he opened had several more boxes inside of it. Pulling out one of the smaller boxes, it had “Stew” written on the side. Opening up that box, a bunch of packets fell out. There were all sorts of odds and ends. Some of which I knew what they were, others I didn’t have a clue, and neither did anyone else.

Arkon found a pouch that said stew and ripped the top of it open. Sniffing at it, he wrinkled his nose and sniffed again. Smiling he said, smells good to me, and slurped it down in a flash. With a loud belch, he declared it fit for eating.

So the rest of us sat down and pulled out a box each. Some had candies, fruits and some other foods that I didn’t recognize. But all of us ate a couple of boxes worth. With full stomachs we let out a collective sigh.

We might just survive this yet.
