End of the dayPosted on November 21, 2007 @ 05:37PM The morning had flown by after the meeting with my new Commanding Officer. Pita had taken Lex and me upstairs to meet with Lieutenant Quinn “Stitch” Delaney. Stitch, was the squadrons expert in shielding and telekinetics and a graduate of Masta Poes teachings at Tosadae. One of his main duties with the squadron was to help everyone keep there focus and improve their shielding abilities. Stitch drilled the two of use in the simulators with various encounters for 3 hours before he deemed us worthy of flight. I am rather happy for the experience since I did learn a few things from Stitch. The training was followed by a trip to the flight systems shop to get our HARVEST suits setup. HARVEST is short for, Head, Armament, Voice, Sensory and Telemetry Display unit. Simplified, the HARVEST is the most impressive flight helmet that you could put on. In the old days a pilot would have to spend quite a bit of time looking down at the instruments in the cockpit, with the release of the HARVEST flight helmet recently all that is changing. All important readouts are now available in the visors display right before the pilots eyes along with extended outside viewing from various cameras that are implanted on the aircraft. The helmet now allows the pilot to interact with the aircraft through voice controls, calling up those needed items, such as weapons without taking his eyes off the intended target. I was thrilled to get my hands on one of these finally, wish I could have had this in flight training. Jumped on the Vybernet tonight and received a message from Basic Combat Instructor Caplan, my instructor at Tosadae. Seems that the biodroid, OPALMOX, that I ran into before leaving has taken some simulator flights. During one of my Visionistic Arts classes I had seen a vision of this biodroid in the cockpit of an aircraft so I spoke with Caplan about this the night I ran into OPALMOX. I thought the bio-droid might end up in a simulator at some point and told him to be on the lookout. Caplan attached the video shard to the v-mail with the review of the scenario that OPALMOX had last flown and the one that stunned all the students in the room. I had to watch it a few times myself and was really impressed with the abilities of this biodroid. I remembered trying to fly that same scenario myself, never thought it could have been completed with a dead stick landing. Seemed like Caplan was rather impressed with OPALMOX, or I should say, Dead-stick. Think I send Dead-stick a congratulations message tonight on his flight before I head off to bed. We have our first briefing tomorrow at 06:30 and should be wheels up at 07:30. Can’t wait to get back into the sky again! |
