Turning back around he presented one of the boxes to Major Geranth and asked “Do you want the honors?” Major Geranth thought for a moment and said, “Cover the other unit. I don’t want them to know about each other yet.” Nodding his understanding, Ducane draped a modacrylic/vectran sheet over the other biodroid, as Maj Geranth looked at the box he held. After covering the other biodroid, Ducane said, “That’s the power supply, without that unit in place, OPALMOX will not function. It’s easily installed and removed from the back of the cerebral unit.” Maj Geranth pondered this a moment, as he slipped the power unit into place. Shortly after he did so, the sensor strips flickered to life and OPALMOX appeared to be suffering from a massive convulsion.
Maj Geranth stood transfixed staring at the biodroid as it convulsed on the table. Time slowed to a crawl as he watched, then debated whether he should run, or stay put. Ducane, having observed this reaction from many of his previous biodroids, watched for signs of trouble. Ducane marveled as this particular unit seemed to make the transition and calm itself faster than any of his previous creations.
