Uncertain DaysPosted on June 14, 2007 @ 03:01AM So many things to consider, so many changes coming. Grandmother Teacher Jubatis is ailing. She tries to act as always (for a splicer who is 117 years old!), but the family has all noticed her…sense of mournfulness lately. Three of my adopted/foster children are rebellious and I am worried about them. Audra says she can talk to the girls, and that I should talk to Leo. I will, but I have a sense that saying the wrong things might push them further away from what is true and right and good. The “news,” if you can call it that, from Atlantia is bad. The dome holds, and appears to be under the control of the Black Guard. Grandmother has looked into their minds and what she saw there was horrible. I must prepare all my children to fight for our lives and the lives of the unspliced humans. No one knows how soon, but I fear whatever attacks come, they will be sudden and overwhelming. I have been securing weapons and training for our extended coalitions for years now. No one wants these events to come in their lifetimes, but my prayer is only that we do our best, and if we succeed, to succeed well, and if we fail, to die well. I will try to be ready. |
