A date.

Today was a great day.

I was leaving the Nax after having coffee with Kam and Nkiru, and out of nowhere I ran into that girl I met shortly after arriving at Tosadae.

“Hi!” I called out. She looked around, thinking I meant someone else, but there was no one else there. “Yes. I mean you,” I said smiling. “Do you remember me? We met when the Atlantia Transport arrived after it was attacked. I was the enthusiastic guy who randomly dragged you along? My name’s Derf.” “Oh. Yes. I remember.” She replied, “My name is Miro.”

“Nice to meet you again Miro.” I said beaming, “Would you like to come have coffee with me?” I was quite nervous. This was pretty bold for me, and I was sure she’d say “No.”

“I’d like that very much Derf,” she said quietly. “We went back into the Nax, and sat down at a different table.” Grenci, that guy who seems to always be around was talking to Nkiru and Kam.” “That’s my roommate, Grenci.” Miro said, seeing me look at him. “He’s working on that investigation about the drugs.” “Him?” I asked. “Oh yes,” she replied. “He’s very resourceful.” “Huh.” I grunted. It seemed weird to me that he would be doing that kind of thing. I always thought he was a bit shady.

Anyway, I put that aside, and got us some coffees. Then talked to each other. We talked about our backgrounds mostly. She seems like a really nice girl. She told me she’s working on a book in the archaic library, but I got the impression there was more too that.

Maybe she’ll open up as we spend more time with each other.
