Flying and Awkwardness

Kam was running late for our scheduled one on one flight sim sessions. I sat outside the training room and waited. I saw that girl Nkiru that Kam was talking to from a while ago walking past, so I waved. She gave me the fiercest look of malice I have ever seen on a human being, and stormed off. Eek. I wonder what that was about.

Kam showed up about ten minutes later and said, “Dude, I am so sorry, I had to catch up with Havel.” “It’s all good,” I replied, smiling, “I’m just happy to be here.” He looked relieved, “Oh cool, let’s get to it then.” On the way in I told him, “Hey, I saw that girl Nkiru walking past and I waved, and she looked at me like she wanted to kill me, what’s her problem?” “Her problem is that she’s stuck up, jealous of you, and has no talent for flying.” said Kam, “Woah, big problem,” I said, “I’m taking it you two had a falling out.” “For those exact reasons.” He said.

We put that aside and were blasting at each other with extreme glee within five minutes. “So what’s it like flying a real one of these?” I asked him over the comm unit. “Freeing and terrifying,” he said. “Obviously I didn’t get to fire the weaponry, but I keep trying to get Dad to take me somewhere isolated like in the South Republic so I can just let loose.” “You’re getting me in on that when it happens of course.” I say. “Oh yeah man,” he replied. “I can’t imagine not taking my wingman with me when I’m defending the world from stationary rock formations.” The comm-waves were filled with laughter for the next minute, but I knew he meant it
