A new friend, with some good advice.

Posted on July 13, 2008 @ 11:15AM

Jene and I were hanging out at the Nax. After she had informed me about Josh Ackimene (a potential drug user), we called Grenci, and he was quite happy to hear from us. They pulled Josh in for questioning, thanked us, and went on their way.

Jene told me about herself. She was from Station City originally, more from the outskirts than the central parts though. She told me she was grateful to be allowed to play Crizettes, because there was no stadium near her town. Jene and I both had seen Tosadae as our only chance to improve our situations. Her father had worked in a diamond refinery. She had gained an interest in geology and plate tectonics as a result. Jene hoped that she could do enough time in the Politia, to earn scholarships in exchange for undertaking the military side of things. I admired her drive.

I told Jene about myself as well. About my family pushing me, and then the subsequent falling out. I told her how I had problems fitting in, and she told me she’d be happy to hang out with me more often, and said she’d give me a call the next morning.

For the first time, I feel like I have a friend, just for myself, and not by the proxy of being in a group. Before I left the Nax, Jene told me I should give my father a call. He was just a man who knew he needed a lot of help to look after his family, and had problems addressing it. She thought that his way of dealing with it was stressing a duty to the capable family members to do their part. She said I should forgive him, because nobody is perfect.

I think she is right. I will call my father soon.
