The worst day of my life

Posted on April 10, 2008 @ 12:46AM

Today was quite possibly the worst in my life. Worse than breaking my wrist and arguing with my father, and worst than losing Kam as a friend.

Today I discovered why the Raiders always win.

It was after yet another successful Crizettes game. Part of the trials that could get us into an international tournament. We are through to the final match versus the Grizzlies, to see who will represent Tosadae in the Global Zero-G Sports Series. The team gathered in the lockers and asked me to wait, while they huddled together to make a decision. Then they asked me to come over to them.

Jackson held out his open palm to me, and sitting on it was two transparent pills with purple liquid swirling inside.

“We want you to start taking these.” said Nyssa.
“Wh-what are they?” I asked.
“They’re umm, performance assistants,” said Michonne.”
“Like vitamins?” I asked her.
“Not exactly.” She replied. “It’s called Splintron. It’s Spliceosomal introns taken from splicer types with extreme dexterity and endurance. It enhances your playing ability, and they’re completely undetectable.”
“But. These are drugs!” I exclaimed. “This is how we’ve been winning?”
“Shut it Nkiru.” Kinley growled. “Don’t you judge us. If you want to be the best, this is how you do it.”
“You’re either in or you’re out.” Greer said, looking me straight in the eye.

Then they all left, with me holding the drugs, crying. I thought I was part of a group of friends, something special, something powerful, but most of all legitimate. Now it turns out they’re liars and cheaters. If I leave I’ll lose my group of friends, but if I take these drugs, I’ll lose my integrity, not to mention the dangers involved.

I have no idea what to do.
