A wristponder virus.

Posted on November 02, 2008 @ 03:42AM

Nkiru has been sick, and I’d just come back from checking up on her, when something odd happened. I had a alarm set in my wristponder to inform me that I was due at the archaic library for some research. I knew it was coming, but waited for it to go off anyway. The alarm was a song from that band Resolution 1962, and it started off with some heavy drumming, and then hit into some guitar, then made a high-pitched squeal, until I had to shut it off. I’m not that familiar with the band, but I KNOW that isn’t how the song goes. When I rebooted the wristponder, and it loaded up, I couldn’t get it to do anything, and it beamed up some odd glyph. It looked pre-quake Asian, and I stood there staring at it for the longest time. I didn’t know what the symbol meant, but the bigger problem was that I couldn’t get my wristponder to do anything. This was a real problem. I relied on my wristponder for so much. Identification, access to buildings, information, and personal communication – everyone does.

I walked home, borderline distraught, and looking around I saw that groups of people had the same symbol projecting from their wrisponders too, they were talking about it with each other, very nervously. We had backup cards to get into our buildings, but these things were so important.

It must be some kind of electronic virus!
