We had to wait around for ages after every person relevant to accidents had shown up. Of course, the people at the Tosadae Detective Branch wanted to talk to me again. I didn’t want anyone to know how I knew about the bomber. I was supposed to be keeping a low profile, and keep my new telepathic abilities hidden, and then something like this had to happen! I told Derf I’d meet up with him later, and Nkiru and me had to go off to the Security Offices for questioning. Nkiru got released pretty early on because she told them she didn’t know what was happening, she just trusted me. I confirmed it and she got to go. She told me she’d wait for me, but I said it was okay, and just asked her to go and tell Derf I’d see him soon.

As usual, the Detective guys were professional, but not altogether that pleasant. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t mean, they just weren’t nice. They were neutral. I thought they might have made more of an effort. So they asked me how I knew. I told them I saw him doing something suspicious (lie). They asked me what he looked like, I told them I couldn’t remember (another lie, I didn’t even know). Then they completely shocked me and asked “Did you read his mind?”

I was completely taken aback. “W-What? ” I stammered.

Apparently they had investigated the Hall of Shadows. It turns out that the Politia have had dealings with them before, and they had some stuff on file. They knew that the cult had a figurehead with telepathic abilities. They even went as far as contacting Masta Poe, who gave them a detailed report, speculating (correctly) that I had been abducted because they had been without their leader, and wanted to resurrect her essence within me. She noted that the job appeared to have been halfway complete, and while I may have gained control of my senses, I might have access to previously unknown powers of the Visionistic Arts. She called it “Passive Possession.”

They asked if that was how I knew. I told them yes. Masta Poe was good. They told me from now on I had to check in with them weekly, to make sure I had it under control. They said they might have to get Masta Poe involved too. As I couldn’t immediately help them with the bomber, they let me go, telling me to keep in touch should anything come up. On the way out, they congratulated me for helping save a bunch of people. Which felt kind of nice I guess, all things considered.
