The Origin of the Hall of ShadowsPosted on September 11, 2008 @ 10:37AM Today I returned to my investigation into the Hall of Shadows for the first time since my abduction. Now that I knew what my role, and association with the cult was, I could research it more thoroughly. I returned to the Archaic Library. The priestess apparently, was not the founder of the Hall of Shadows at all, she was a woman with a unique talent. A psychic. Back before the great quakes, there were not many of these people around. The majority of the world was skeptical and mistrustful of people claiming to have special abilities. We now know that these people exhibited powers of the Visionistic arts, and they would now have been regarded as practitioners of the highest caliber. I was looking for the origin of the priestess’s involvement, and I came across something astounding. The founder of the Hall of Shadows was named Sylas Murdock. It had started sometime in the early 1920s, in direct reaction to the prophecies of a man named Edgar Cayce. Murdock knew the Quakes were coming, and he wanted to create an organization that would survive them, and grow to rule over the remains of society. Murdock abducted the woman who would become priestess, and brain-washed her, indoctrinating her to his cause. He would use her to influence Senators, Mayors, Judges, and the wealth of the society grew. Murdock eventually died, but the organization thrived, the priestess became as corrupt and greedy as Murdock, and the cult believed that her consciousness would leave her body before she died, and take root in a newborn, where she would lie dormant until the members of the Hall of Shadows find and restore her. This happened over and over again. This is what almost happened to me. I have to live with this malevolent entity inside me. I feel like I can begin to take advantage of her powers, but with each use, she could take more of a dominant hold in my mind, before she takes over herself. I have to find a way to purge the Priestess from my system forever. |
