Grenci’s method of getting me into the Tosadae Archaic Library was surprisingly lacking in dishonesty. I know he got the Tosadae Network uploaded to his wristponder through dubious means, but I never probed him about it. Him and I have this
“don’t ask, don’t tell” relationship some of the time. When Grenci said he could get me into the archives, I told him I didn’t want to do anything illegal to get in there.
“That’d make it more difficult,” he said. “But I’ll check it out cos I like ya.” I smiled and thanked him for not compromising me like that. We both went to our separate classes for the day and at the end I met up with him back at the dorm.
“Ok, I’ve got you in.” He said.
“Wha? How? I asked in disbelief.
“You didn’t do anything sketchy did you?”
“No, there’s only one catch.” He said “In order to get you in there, legally, like you said, I organized a literary scholarship. You can have exclusive access to the Archaic Library, but you have to write a book on pre-quakes plant-life.”
“But I’d love to do that!” I said. “How on earth did you get them to accept.”
“I wrote a book proposal for you,” he said, “I said you were the author, that’s as about as illegal as this deal gets. Oh, you also get a stipend for other research purposes”
“Wow, Grenci that’s amazing! Thank you so much.” I said ecstatically and gave him a massive hug.

A book deal, access to the library and an income; if only I had more friends like him.
