Meditation

Posted on September 11, 2008 @ 09:34PM

I have found that my training with Mr. Naseden has brought a sense of calm over my life. Even though I have become an excellent fighter, and get better and better at aura reading all the time, the techniques have been the most helpful are the meditation methods.

I practice combat with Naseden three times a week now. When I’m sitting in class, I often glance around the room and read the auras of everyone in there. I don’t comment, so nobody knows I’m doing it, but I can see the various range of emotions everyone is displaying. There is so much variation, I see pale gray auras of frustration, deep purples of confusion, and light greens of jealousy. It feels a lot like spying, but the classroom, and places where there are larger groups of people are the best places to practice.

But anyway, meditation. Meditation is probably the most relaxing thing a person can do. In meditation you clear your mind. You can just try to shut off and stop thinking of specific things altogether, by focusing on something specific like your breathing, or an object or you can even use a mantra. I usually just try to stop thinking. This is a real skill to learn, because we’re always thinking. I just sit down somewhere comfortable, and try to rid my mind of all the little thoughts. It’s kind of hard, because when you stop thinking, after a while you’re like “Hey! I’m doing it!” Then you’re all “Oh no! I’m thinking again!” It’s pretty tricky stuff.

Meditation has been practiced for centuries, and well before the great quakes. There it was a component of many religions, and even more secular-minded people could appreciate it’s power. It has definitely helped me these last few weeks. It’s a period when you forget all your troubles, and focus on how to get by.
