The joy of a lack of dependence

Posted on November 09, 2008 @ 12:28PM

There’s some weird virus that’s hit all the wristponders on campus. This seems to be some kind of major deal, because many of the classes and timetables and whatever are coordinated through everyone’s wrists.

Me, I never really use mine. I can coordinate myself. I had to do it on the streets, I don’t see why I should change now. I don’t really use them unless I gotta. I don’t watch portable hologram shows, I use clocks on buildings to tell the time and I don’t use the vyber-net except to check my V-mail, which I do very sporadically. I hate the idea of being slowed down by something electronic, and I think people are starting to witness the harsh reality.

Miro is for sure. She lives in a world of research and information. She can’t seem to handle it if she’s not constantly learning or researching something. Now, to compensate for her wristponder not working, the poor girl is trying to find out why. That stuff is for the birds man, you won’t find me tied down by anything.

It goes back to my time on Covax. The only thing you can depend on is your wits. Not your friends, and certainly not some piece of machinery you strap to your wrist.
