A friend in need.

Today, I took the time to check my V-Mail. This is something I regularly forget to do, seeing how I usually just get my info by word of mouth. The last thing I expected to see was a message from Tonio.

Lets get things straight, I owed Tonio a lot. When I freaked out, and ran away from my birth parents in Sangelino down to Covax City, I was stupid, and naive and I wouldn’t have last five minutes down there if Tonio hadn’t intervened and protected me. He was a hood for sure, but he was a good soul and I never seen him harm anyone that didn’t have it coming.

Those were the same humble origins I came from. I’d still be down there without the freak occurrence of my bio-father being some Politia big-wig. Now, I’ve got the chance to make a difference. People take cops seriously down there in Covax, especially the ones active enough to make a difference, and with a power base to get things done. Ducane Covax may have made cheap housing there so people could get some semblance of quality of life, but that doesn’t mean people were sipping pomegranate liqueur and high-rollin’ it was street living by street rules.

I made a promise to Tonio that I’d get back and try and make it better in the neighborhood. He got me to Tosadae. It was one business to get accepted, but it was another to actually get the finance to do it. Now, while I get to play Police Man on the side of light, Tonio got forced into Gangster to pay for it. He’s still working for Gniutz the big time crime lord who would sell his extended family to make only a small amount of cash. Tonio is worried he’s losing his soul because of what the big G has him doing. He’s talking about breaking up families, and ripping kids from their parents to got to work in the mob.

This all gotta stop. I can’t get back to Covax for some time, but I can at least try to give Tonio some advice over the V-Net. I’ve got skills, and I can pass them on. I wish I could do more from my friend, but all I can do right now is stay available and give him all the advice I can. I don’t know. I know how the game works. I hope I can help.
