Military StrategyPosted on September 12, 2008 @ 12:59AM Life’s starting to resemble some sense of normalcy again. No drug scams, no abductions, just training and going to classes. One of the classes I just kind of signed up on a whim was about Military Strategy and History. The class was run by this guy Petersen who lived since before the Great Quakes by cloning himself, and transplanting his original brain into each new clone. This freaks me out. I would have thought there was some kind of ethical issues involved, but the sneaky old dude seems to have gotten away with it. I wonder if the other students realize what kind of a resource this guy is. He was actually over two-hundred years old. I bet he gets grilled for information by all the other teachers on a regular basis. Anyway, the guy is a military genius, and he runs these simulations of past battles. I figure most of my classmates don’t really take this on board, just thinking it’s some thing you gotta learn, but this stuff really resonates with me. I think of the strategies used, and I apply them to different settings, adjusting them as appropriate. It all just clicks into place, like the guerilla tactics used in Vietnam, but applying them to an urban setting. I think about how battles were fought, how these tactics were beaten, and then think of how to refine them. This has really become my favorite class, and it keeps my brain active. A lot of the time I’ll stay after class, talking to General Petersen, just bouncing ideas off him, and hearing about what it was like before the quakes. A lot of the time I’m late for my other classes because I hang around too long. Petersen’s great though, he’ll regularly write notes getting me out of trouble. He’s a great contact to have. I can’t believe Jason didn’t take this class he would have loved it. |
