A trick

I got woke up real early in the morning by Derf. Seems Derf got hisself lost or something out in the city limits looking for Miro. He told me some splicer child said something to him about hooded men and a mausoleum. We had a hooded man in custody. We could use this.

I met up with Jason an’ we thought about how we could use this to get our man to speak. So far he’d been kinda silent. We went into the holding cell. Mr. Graves AKA my father was letting us use it to get to aid us in finding Miro. I was going to be happy to have a break from detective work after all this.

We’d run an ID check on our boy, and he came up rather average-like. James Roberts, middle-class human, no previous convictions, job as a telemarketer, absolutely boring person.

“Ok Jim,” Jason said. “You can go.”
“What?” he asked astonished?
“Oh, The Tosadae Militia are storming the mausoleum as we speak,” I said. “Which makes you useless. Redundant. Not important to us in the least.”
“How…?” he asked.
“Oh come on,” said Jason. “You don’t expect us to tell you anything do you? You didn’t tell us Jack.”
“But.. the lower West side is such a large busy area… The population is huge,” said Roberts. “How could you possibly have found out they were at the Mausoleum with all the people moving around there?”

Jason and I looked at each other.
“Mausoleum on the lower west-side? of the city surrounds?” I said.
“How about that?” Jason said back to me. I looked hard at James Roberts.
“You’re not very smart, are you?”
“What? Wait! I was lying!” Roberts pleaded, realizing his mistake. “NO!”

Jason and I left the room, and I called Mr. Graves, we’d mobilise a raid on the Mausoleum, with a hefty military detail. We’d have Miro soon.

I poked my head back into the cell door and looked at Roberts.
“We’re not really letting you go, by the way.”
