An academy within the academy.Posted on May 14, 2008 @ 10:32PM I went to see Mr. Graves aka my father about this Detective Academy. Told him I’m in. “Excellent,” he said. “But don’t think I’ll treat you any easier because you’re my son. Yeah, like I’ve had it easy the last year or so. Like I can’t cope.
This Detective Academy is pretty small. There must be about thirty people in it tops, and that’s over all years, all grades of the people at Tosadae. It’s not commonly known about in the students. We’re supposed to keep it on the down-low, I guess part of the training is learning to keep quiet about it. To kick off this year’s class we had a one-off introductory seminar. I should probably try and make some friends in this class. It’d be a bit sad if from my whole time at Tosadae my only actual friend was Miro. Our training for this happens in three stages throughout the day, designed to fit in with our other classes. I decided to drop out of the Modern Commerce paper cos it bored me to tears. Politia detectives are supposed to be self-sufficient field agents. They know the basics of a forensic science to they can assess a crime-scene themselves to a reasonable degree. So mornings we learn about fingerprints, how to operate hand-held DNA readers, and are given detailed classes about human, splicer and Mutant biology and anatomy. Midday we do Driving and Firearms handling. This is pretty cool stuff, and we do it at a training facility away from the main Tosadae Academy. My favorite aspect of the training is the night classes in interrogation and information gathering techniques. This stuff comes pretty naturally to me from my time on the streets of Covax. You’re also allowed to be a bit creative here. |
