I would love to see a PC (or other platform) game of Vision Quest someday. We have Harry Potter, The War of the Ring, and dozens of others.

I can see starting with this website and having an online tie-in, with live action play, and players being able to assume good or bad guy identities, and fight it out with visionary and good ol’ physical combat.

Let’s see, if we all pitch in a bunch of money to a game developer…well, I guess that would be Ms. Pratt’s baby.

I could probably talk my folks and my boyfriend into buying the game. How about you?

Personally I would love to see this as a PC game with an online tie-in.

I can see something along the lines of World of Warcraft meets Star Wars Galaxy. It has a lot of potential that I would love to explore.

With the cities and much that is happening, there is almost an endless list of possibilities.

It would probably be some type of RPG. You could leve up, get powers, and such while following a storyline. It would evolve into a Choose your own Adventure type RPG. I could possibly create a Flash based game after I graduate this summer. I’ll put it on my to-do list.

Although I like the idea, and it might be entertaining, that still seems a bit linnear.

There was a MUDD that I played years ago called Dragon Realms. It was interesting in that although it was text base, the descriptions and interactions of everyone kept it very vivid in my mind.

In a worst case scenerio, it could be one direction, although with modern technology and number of games out there, people are more oriented towards a move visual base. One thing that I liked about DR was that if you wanted to dress up or down your character, you could, and unless someone actually /looked at you, then all you saw was so-and-so entered the room. And there were areas (especially around the bank, and some of the stores) that had upwards of 50 people at any time. And there were all sorts of areas that you could go to. The realm was pretty vast… But, alas, I think that’s a bygone age now.

But a Flash game at least would be a step in the right direction. I’m don’t know much about programming those, but it could be something to explore… Especially if you can encorporate some of the splicer traits on your character.

Ahhh MUDD’s gotta love them. However I really don’t think that would take off to much now these days, people need the eye candy. Makes me remember all the time I spent playing Trade Wars lol.

Well a Flash game would be relatively simple to make right now, like Direhoof said its a step in the right direction. The Vision Quest series is said to be made of a trilogy, game, series of flash movies, and a live action movie. If they stick to these guidelines we will see a game one day. But for now the future is bleak, so I’ll start drawing up boards for the game soon. IF you have ever played RPGs on Newgrounds or Flashplayer, you can assign your character certain traits, clothes, etc. It just depends on the game. A Flash RPG is doable, but its very time consuming. Usually I can make a movie in 4 months and a full fledged game in 6-8. We’ll see how time plays out. I’d appreciate some ideas from ya’ll to make this happen.

Last RPG I played, and did was Everquest from when it came out until about 01. Haven’t messed around with Flash since about then either lol. I’m sure that Flash has become easier to use now then the versions I used back in the stone age. If I come up with any good ideas I’ll let you know.

After thinking about it would just be a mix or action and adventure in The Vision Quest World. It could be somewhat of an RPG with a mix of other genres. The Flash programs I learned on where from the Stone Age. I believe the most current version is Flash MX or 8. I haven’t done a Flash game since 02, but I’ve made movies up to 04. Each version makes it easier, but I like the older versions since they’re more of a challenge lol. Everquest….haha…that is an old game dude. I never liked it. Too much money goes into a game for online features and expansion packs. Good to hear you’ve got your thinking cap on.

Presently the basic layout is:
  • Design your own character (human, splicer, mutant, gen, clone)
  • Assign visionistic powers and other stats
  • Start off on Mu, Panzania, Atlantia, or Sanangelino
  • Go through a series of adventures/missions and arrive at Tosadae.
  • Events occur linear to the Book

Maybe an incorporation of other characters. It’s too early to tell, but I’m open for ideas. I just need to find my copy of Flash. It’s hidden somewhere in my house. I need a Visionistic power that automatically finds missing objects…RECALL!

Locating objects seems to be a ladies thing… Just ask my better half and my mom. I have some luck with it, but not nearly to the degree that those two do.

I have no experience in flash other than on the user end of a few games, although I’m a total newb when it comes to 3d graphics. I actually got started on that by accident due to my interes in prop building and costume designing. Most of my game building experience is pen and paper (aka dice chucking), card flopping (CCG/TCG) or board gaming. So I don’t know how much help that I could be, but I’ll provide any that I can.

I’m not adept at 3D graphics. The Flash game would be 2D with some 3D perspective. I just ideas to what ya’ll would like to see such as design your character, gameplay, etc. the game is in its early stages, which is about 60 words on a napkin lol.

Ah I finally found it. It’s quoted off Wikipedia from the article on Deborah Pratt.

“In 2006 she began to publish a series of novels with a spiritual science-fantasy theme and an accompanying Web presence, The Vision Quest. The press kit for the novel and Web site describe The Vision Quest as a “multi-platform entertainment project,” including a trilogy of novels and a series of animated Flash movies leading to a feature film, a game, and live- action feature film.”

There’s more in store!

I recall that article… And I’m sure that they are busy with it along with probably a plethora of other items. Some of the folks that are questors here work for one of the affiliated companies, but then you can see that from the website that they post when you look at the questors list.

As for the 3d graphics stuff, what I know you could probably fill a thimble with, it was something that I started playing with when I was doing some design work for some props that I had been designing. The stuff that I put together is looks like crayons work in comparison to what some of these kids are putting out now a days.

As for a CCG/TCG, I could probably come up with something, and based off of what I’ve seen from the blogs, and the book, I could probably come up with a paper and dice RPG. But thinking about it… It wouldn’t be the first time that a video game was based off of an RPG Game, or a book.

The fans of The Vision Quest would love a game to play. It’s one of those things which the fans will enjoy and the rest of the community won’t care about. Take the Golden Compass for instance, it is a poorly made game on all platforms, but the fans enjoy it. The adventure and experience all over again is something they enjoy. I hope we can do the same eventually.

I remember getting Flash, the first version lol, hold on remember getting the first version of Photoshop as well.

I just stick to web design and and phtography these days. Neither of those are my full time job though they just bleed in with my volunteer work that I do.

Design layout and useability is something I have a eye for most of the time lol.

Cool. I do scenic photography as a hobby. I’ve never been good at web design, partly because I was taught using HTML. Now theres Dreamweaver and so much other easier stuff to use. I still use HTML lol…that is very hard and I’m sure you know. One pixel # has a big effect on whatever you’re doing. So irritating.

I remember my first lesson in flash; how to make a button. Took me a long time to figure it out. Something so simple takes hours…lol

A lame flash game would not be in the interest of this community. Your statement about the Golden Compass merely implies the game a fan creates will be absolute rubbish.Just wait for the game that was promised, instead of wasting your time with a mediocre game no one will enjoy. Very few people visit here anyway, so why bother?

Opsidian… You mean to tell me you spend almost as much time at PAM as you do your regular job… You’re a busy man.

As to why bother making something in the mean time, I guess is a more personal issue. Some of us enjoy trying to give back to the community as much or more than we receive. Besides, it could be something to do in the mean time while we’re waiting.

This site survives by the fans of Ms Pratts work, and a desire to spread universal peace and harmony.

Yup it’s something to do while we wait. There’s very little to do here on the site, which is why I’d like to create something for the fans to enjoy. Hopefully it will attract more people. It’s a very long wait will Book 2 and the rest of the media to come out.

You do what you must then. I will bask in glory when you fail. This site survives by few people. Yet as to why I am here I do not know.

A search for knowledge? A search for some undefined truth?

Why are a lot of us here… That’s a question that will probably never be truly answered, but I for one am glad that this site does exist.

Same here this a place for all the fans of the Vision Quest to congregate and share our love and enjoyment of the series. There’s nearly 500 of us and growing…

Henry…Why you are here? That’s something you must ask yourself. Frankly if its to bring a cloud of rain over others’ heads, this is not the place. Your opinions are welcome in this forum as long as they are not to cruel. Be courteous man, what have we done to you? Treat those how you would like to be treated.

I assure you, we well not fail.

Other things to consider are clairaudience/voyance.

Also through the ages, literature has hinted at a number of other abilities, some of which are various levels of mind control, different types of psychic attacks and defence.

Just food for thought.
