Lazer

Cole Lazerman, Lazer to his friends and family, is seventeen, handsome, and boyishly charming, with a thick head of dark, rebellious curls.

Masta Lia Poe

Masta Poe, an albino splicer-part-human / part-prosimian gibbon-is profoundly intelligent and extraordinarily wise. Her human features dominate her overall appearance, but her animal genetics are clearly present. She has large, round, lavender-blue eyes filled with strength and kindness. Her humanity still new to her she has remembered the powers humanity has forgotten and created the Visionistic Arts.

Elana Blue

She has eyes as blue as a summer sky and hair that rivals the soft gold of a winter sun. Her body is tall and willowy, with curves in all the right places and legs that go on forever. She is Elana Blue-Ducane Covax's daughter.

Kyla

Lazer's best friend, Kyla is tough, smart, and pretty-almost beautiful but not quite yet. She is a second-generation splicer, with what looks like fine, flesh-colored tattoos on her neck and arms that fit the multiple ear and delicate nose piercings. Her strange, intricate markings are the only visible sign that she is not all human.

Cashton

Cashton Lock is Lazer's other best friend. Older, taller, and stockier, he has broad features and brown skin the color of amber and honey. Lazer tells him he looks like a fox, always ready to start trouble. The difference is Cashton has the body and build to finish anything he starts.

Ducane Covax

At fifty, the creator of the Black Guard, Ducane Covax, is strikingly handsome and dark-complexioned, with sharp features and keen eyes. Fine amber-colored tattoos of microcapsuled, digital ink implants serpentine across his cheeks. The tattoos change colors, reflecting the intensity of his mood.

Five

The tallest and most elegant of the biodroids-called Five by the humans who work with it-is evolving. Created as a machine, with organic parts anchoring its core, it is transmutating at an alarming rate. From being a brilliant, exacting, and analytical mechanism, it has evolved into something that is now cognizant.
